MYTHIC WISDOM

honoring the infinite connections between heartlights

mythic wisdom and the healing arts - remembering, reclaiming, RE-IMAGINING

Heather currently breathes at the intersection of mythic wisdom and the healing arts. The healing arts are healing modalities that encourage holistic and systemic support of a person, community, and/or culture. Healing arts are predicated on the belief that healing is a relational undertaking, a heart-centered practice that allows for the whole person (community, and/or culture) to be present, welcoming all aspects of their historical experience, and all parts of themselves as they are currently moving through the world. The healing arts are informed by traditional healing practices that live in the fabric of our being, a wisdom gifted by our ancestors, a codex that lives within our bones. Mythic wisdom offers a doorway into our bone-knowing, a return to relationship with spirit, earth, and spiritual allies and can guide and inform our life’s path and reveal our life’s purpose to us. Mythic wisdom is beautifully articulated by Dr. Sharon Blackie, “Myths and fairy tales are so much more than stories: they’re living principles, deeply enmeshed in our lives and the life of this beautiful, animate Earth. And in the uncertain times we live in, we need their wild wisdom more than ever. They illuminate who we are, who we might become, and help us discover the unique gift that each of us brings to the unceasing becoming of the world.” These practices honor the ancestors, of all lineages, and call on the wise and well ones for guidance, insight and support. The pathways of mythic wisdom offer those that seek healing to remember themselves as whole, and an opportunity to live in honesty and partnership, aligned and re-connected to the core of their being.

Heather has completed depth studies in contemporary shamanic, animistic, and meditation practices - all of which inform her partnership with the spirit world and the subtle etheric realms in pursuit of spiritual healing. She walks the path of the wise woman tradition, a path of integrity, steeped in intuition, connection, reverence, and remembering. The term ‘shaman’ came from the Tungusic peoples of Siberia and was adopted by anthropologists to describe native ceremonial and spiritual leaders throughout the world's cultures. Animism is the ancient belief that all things are inspirited and that our human souls are kin to myriad beings which places humans within an interdependent, relational web of existence. Beautifully articulated by Susun Weed, “The Wise Woman Tradition is the oldest tradition of healing known on our planet, yet one that is rarely identified, rarely written or talked about. A woman-centered tradition of self-love, respectful of the earth and all her creatures, the Wise Woman Tradition tells us that compassion, simple ritual and common herbs heal the whole person and maintain health/wholeness/holiness.”

CODE OF PRACTICE

Heather’s direct experiences and beliefs honor that of story-keepers, spiritual healers and healing arts practitioners from a great many lineages. Her code of practice includes:

  1. Listening to, feeling, seeing, and honoring the great inter-connectivity of all things.

  2. Acknowledging that all things are inspirited be they animal, mineral, plant or element.

  3. Tending relationships with the spirit realms and working in concert with compassionate or 'helping' spirits to guide the healing of spiritual illness and to seek insight, wisdom, and support.

  4. Working with the keepers as a human emissary to maintain harmony between 'ordinary' and 'non-ordinary' realities.

  5. Honoring the ancestral lineages of all beings and the communities that are woven in this time and beyond with close relationship to the plants, waters, stones, and stars.

  6. Listening to the wisdom of the body as a sacred vessel, animated by the soul, and a partner to be cherished as we experience human life.

  7. Sharing the voices and stories of the ancestors in service of Earth healing and the repair of the anima-mundi.

  8. Walking the Path of Integrity - paved with empathy, it is a path of truth seeking and speaking, replete with authenticity and self ownership, wrapped in honor for all beings.

In this modern world, speakers of mythic wisdom and practitioners of the healing arts can provide insight, illumination, and guidance, and are called to be of service in support of individual and community empowerment and healing. If you are seeking to make changes in your life in service of healing and living in truth, Heather would be honored to partner with, and support you, on your journey. You can find her here.
